16-Bit, 8 Channel, Integrated Analog Input module for Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)
TIDA-00164: This reference design provides a complete solution for a single supply industrial control Analog Input Module. The reference design is suitable for process control end equipment like Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Distributed Control system (DCS), Data Acquisition Systems (DAS) modules that must digitize standard industrial current inputs and bipolar or unipolar input voltage ranges up to ±10V. In an industrial environment the analog voltage and current ranges typically include ±2.5 V, ±5 V, ±10 V, 0 V to 5 V, 0 V to 10 V, 4 mA to 20 mA, and 0 mA to 20 mA. This reference design can measure all standard industrial voltage and current inputs. Eight channels are provided on the module and each channel can be configured as a current or voltage input with software configuration. The SAR based architecture of ADS8688 leverages better sampling rate. The ADS8688 also includes an on-chip PGA. The on-chip PGAs are used to provide gain and level shift the bipolar signals. The ISO7141 & ISO1541D provides digital signal isolation between host microcontroller and measurement side. The power isolation has been achieved using LM5017 based Flybuck transformer. The module has on-board EEPROM to store calibration data and module configuration data. This reference design also demonstrate the TI products like hot swap & in-rush current limit controller, isolated Flybuck controller, low noise LDO, and I2C to GPIO expander that can be used in the entire PLC signal processing chain. The module has been designed to be pluggable to the IO Controller (TIDA-00123) for quick testing & evaluation. The module reference design also includes external protection circuit and has been tested and verified to be compliant with IEC61000-4 standards – EFT, ESD and Surge requirements with IO Controller platform.
Universal Line Power Supply for PLC using PSR Flyback and Compact DC/DC Stages Reference Design
PMP9185.1: The PMP9185 reference design uses the UCC28710 primary-side regulated flyback controller to generate a 15V output from a univeral AC input with maximum 20W output power followied by DC/DC and LDO stages using TPS54229 and TPS650250, and 5V, 3.3V, 1.8V and 1.2V are provided. A switch on the PCB provides the freedom of supplying DC/DC and LDO from AC input or DC input.
High Efficiency 400W AC/DC Power Supply Reference Design - PMP11064.1 - TI Tool Folder
PMP11064: PMP11064 is a high-efficiency AC/DC power supply reference design with universal AC input and 20V/20A output. Interleaved transition mode PFC and LLC series resonant converter is applied for 20V/20A main power. A PSR Flyback with MOSFET integrated controller is applied as the auxiliary supply. 91.2% efficiency is achieved at low line and full load. 93.1% efficiency is achieved at high line and full load.
15 Cell Lithium Ion Battery Controller Analog Front End Reference Design
TIDA-00255: The TIDA00255 reference design utilizes the bq76940 analog front end (AFE) IC. It measures cell voltages, and die temperature or external thermistor voltage using a 14 bit ADC. Current is measured separately by a separate 16 bit coulomb counter. The design can turn off low side power FETs to stop discharge or charge based on selected hardware limits. A microcontroller not included in this design would be part of the battery controller to communicate to the AFE to set protection thresholds, turn on the power FETs, provide fault recovery and turn off the FETs for over or under temperature conditions. A battery controller design may contain other features which are not part of this reference design such as secondary over voltage protection, gauging, and isolated communication to let the system know the state of the battery.
High Efficiency 350W AC/DC Power Supply Reference Design
PMP11303.1: PMP11303 is high-efficiency AC/DC power supply reference design with universal AC input and 25V/13.5A and 12V/1A outputs. LLC+PFC combo IC UCC29950 is applied for the main power stages with 25V/13.5A output while UCC28730 is applied for the auxiliary power with 12V/1A output. This design has low no load power comsumption (152mW@230VAC) and over 93% peak efficiency. This design also meet 80PLUS Gold requirement for 115VAC Internal power supplies.

Snubberless, Non-Isolated AC/DC Flyback Converter Reference Design with Simplified Transformer
TIDA-00628: TIDA-00628 is a 15V/6.5W non-isolated, single output, AC/DC Flyback power supply that is capable of operating from wide input voltage ranging from 85Vac to 440Vac. This design demonstrates 2 key features (1) the elimination of snubber components enabled by use of a high-voltage bipolar transistor and (2) simplified transformer design with no need for an auxilliary winding. Low system parts count and built in advanced protection features result in a cost-effective solution for electricity meters and industrial designs.
Wideband Digital to RF Transmit Solution
TIDA-00072: The TSW308x is an example design of a wideband digital to RF transmit solution capable of generating 600 MHz of contiguous RF spectrum. The system provides a reference on how to use the DAC34x8x, TRF3705 IQ modulator and LMK0480x to achieve this. This reference EVM coupled with a pattern generator such as the TSW1400EVM can be used to arbitrarily generate narrow band and wideband signals at RF. Examples of configurations to generate standards compliant WCDMA test signals are provided.
Analog Input, Output and Relay Drive Output Module for Smart Grid IEDs Reference Design
TIDA-00310: This reference design showcases a flexible Analog IO solution for Smart Grid devices like Protection Relays and RTUs that also need to communicate with other devices on the grid that use the analog IO such as voltage (5V to 10V DC) or current (4-20mA). This solution enables both types of IO as well as a power digital relay drive. SPI and I2C communication interfaces are available on this module for communication to the processor.

PMP11135: The PMP11135 reference design uses the UCC28711 to provide an isolated 13.5V at 0.9A output. The UCC28711 implements primary-side regulation, eliminating the need for an opto-coupler and reducing the size and cost of the design. This design meets Class B conducted emissions without the need for a common mode input choke.
Dual-Wideband RF-to-Digital Receiver Design
TIDA-00073: The TSW1265EVM is an example design of a wideband RF to digital dual receiver solution capable of digitizing up to 125MHz of spectrum. The system provides a reference on how to use the ADS4249, LMH6521, LMK0480x, and a dual mixer to achieve this. This reference EVEM coupled with a capture card such as the TSW1400 can be used to capture and analyze narrow band and wideband signals. Instructions are provided on how to change the LO and IF frequencies for different application needs. The TIDA-00073 was implemented with hardware from the TSW1265EVM.

PMP11303.2: PMP11303 is high-efficiency AC/DC power supply reference design with universal AC input and 25V/13.5A and 12V/1A outputs. Isolated IGBT Gate Driver Evaluation Platform for 3-Phase Inverter System Reference Design
TIDA-00195: The TIDA-00195 reference design consists of a 22kW power stage with TI’s new reinforced isolated IGBT gate driver ISO5852S intended for motor control in various applications. This design allows performance evaluation of the ISO5852S in 3-phase inverter incorporating 1200V rated IGBT modules of current ratings ranging from 50A-200A. Some of the important functionality and performance evaluated are short circuit protection using DESAT detection, Soft-shutdown, effectiveness of the Active Miller Clamp at different inverter dv/dt, and ESD/EFT performance of IGBT gate driver at system level derived from adjustable speed electrical power drive systems (IEC61800-3). Piccolo launch pad LAUNCHXL-F28027 is used to generate the PWM signals required for controlling the inverter.

Noise-immune Capacitive Proximity Sensor System Reference Design
TIDA-00466: The FDC2214 proximity and capacitive sensing design demonstrates the use of TI's capacitive sensing technology to sense and detect the presence of various objects. The design is a complete hardware and firmware solution. The firmware processes the data from one proximity sensor and two capacitive touch buttons via the FDC2214 to determine whether an object is in the intended sensing area. Dedicated colored LEDs light up once the device detects a target in close proximity to the board or detects a press on the buttons. The design is powered by one AA-battery.

-48V Telecom Current/Voltage/Power Sense with Isolation
TIDA-00313: This verified design can accurately measure current, voltage and power on a bus that carries -48V and is able to provide this data using an I²C compatible interface. This design is targeted for Telecom applications because the most common Telecom equipment’s are fed with this negative supply voltage. It uses INA226 and ISO1541. The INA226 is a current shunt and power monitor with an I²C compatible interface. This device will precisely take these measurements and will use ISO1541 to translate the negative voltage to ground referenced signals. The ISO1541 is a low-power, bidirectional I²C compatible isolator.
Gauge Booster Pack Reference Design
TIDA-00586: The TIDA-00586 reference design is a gauge that has been designed as a booster pack to fit on the TI Launchpad development boards. The use of this this board for development will reduce the time spent in design and test of the bq27421 gauge IC. You can select any appropriate charger to charge your battery. Attach your system to the gauge and you can monitor the current, voltage, SOC, and SOH of the battery under test.
Primary-Side Regulated Flyback with 85 to 265VAC Input (12V @ 0.5A) Reference Design
PMP8787: The PMP8787 reference design uses the UCC28700 flyback controller to generate a 12V/500mA output from a univeral AC input. The primary-side regulation technique implemented by the UCC28700 eliminates the need for an opto coupler, reducing the size and cost of the design. In addition, the valley switching of the UCC28700 allows this design to achieve a maximum load efficiency over 80%; no load losses are less than 40mW. The circuit board measures only 28mm by 33mm, with a maximum height below 20mm.
16-Bit Analog Mixed Input and Output Module for Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) Reference Design
TIDA-00170: The TIDA-00170 is a reference design for industrial control Analog Mixed Input Output Modules. The design implements four channel analog input & two channel analog output. The analog input channels can measure all standard industrial voltages up to ±10V and current inputs up to 24mA. The two simultaneous analog outputs can source voltage up to ±10V and current up to 24mA. The reference design includes the necessary on-board protection circuit & is tested for IEC61000-4 standard – EFT, ESD and Surge requirements with IO Controller platform. The protection circuitry does not negatively affect the design and test results showed typical unadjusted errors were less than 0.1% of the full-scale range (FSR) for the analog input channel and less than 0.2% FSR for the analog output channel.

Primary Side Regulated Flyback Reference Design with 120VAC Input and 24V/4A Rated Output
PMP10804: This reference design implements the UCC28630 PSR controller in a flyback power supply. The UCC28630 is capable of operating in both Continuous and Discontinuous Conduction Modes which enables high efficiency while reducing inductor size and cost. Safety standards such as EN60950 require that any X-capacitors in EMC filters on the AC side of the bridge rectifier quickly discharge to a safe level when AC is disconnected. Typically, this requirement is achieved by including a resistive discharge element in parallel with the X-capacitor. However, this resistance causes a continuous power dissipation that impacts the standby power performance. In order to reduce standby power and eliminate the standing loss associated with the conventional discharge resistors, the UCC28630 device incorporates active X-capacitor discharge circuitry. In this design, less than 100mW no load power comsumption and over 88% converter efficiency is achieved.

PMP9362: An isolated flybuck converter with self-driven synchronous rectification on the secondary side accepts an input voltage of 21.6Vin to 26.4Vin and provides an isolated output of 5Vout capable of supplying a maximum of 0.3A of current to the load.
300-W PFC plus Resonant LLC Half-Bridge controller off-line AC/DC PSU Module
TIDA-00520: This is a high efficiency 300-W AC/DC reference design. The design can be biased from external supply or configured for Self-Bias Auxillary mode for operation directly off the AC mains. The PFC is fully internally compensated, reducing design complexity and pcb design. Protections include 3-level OCP, line brown-out, PFC Bulk OVP plus UVP and OTP.
