Interface to a 5V BiSS Position Encoder Reference Design
TIDA-00175: This TI Design implements a hardware interface solution based on the BiSS standard for position or rotary encoders. It supports both BiSS Point-to-Point and BiSS Bus configurations. The building blocks include the power supply for a 5V BiSS encoder – with innovative smart e-Fuse technology - and robust full-duplex RS485 transceivers, including line termination and EMC protection. An auxiliary power supply and logic level interface with adjustable I/O voltage level is provided to connect to subsequent MCUs and MPUs that would run the BiSS (or SSI) Master protocol stack. This design is fully tested to meet EMC immunity requirements for ESD, Fast Transient Burst and Surge according to IEC61800-3.
Pb Battery Charger w/Charging Algorithm Using SIMPLE SWITCHER DC/DC Converter Reference Design
PMP9456: The reference design provides a battery charging solution for a 6V, 4.7AH Lead Acid battery with a simple charging algorithm implemented using the DC/DC Buck converter LM46001. Such batteries are widely used in industrial and consumer applications such as digital weigh scales. The design is done for 300mA of constant current charging (and thereof tapering of current) which can be changed by modifying the current sense resistor. The feedback is modified using very low cost discrete devices to achieve the charging algorithm.
Power Solution for an Engineering Equipment Fuel Injector
PMP7967: The PMP7967 converts a DC input of 6V-42V to an output of 90V at 1.5A. The design uses four interleaved LM5122 boost controllers with each controller switching at 100kHz. The resulting 4-phase boost converter has a ripple frequency of 400kHz. Freqeucny can also be synchronized to an external signal. Four 330μF aluminum electrolytic capacitors are used at the output to support sudden load current demands in the fuel injector solenoids.
Power Solution for an Automotive Fuel Injector
PMP7966: PMP7966 is a 4-phase boost converter rated for 52V output at 2.5A from an input voltage of 6V to 42V. This design uses LM5122 boost controllers at a switching frequency of 100 kHz each phase, resulting in 400 kHz input and output ripple. 680μF aluminum electrolytic capacitors are used at the output of each phase, providing hold-up to support large transient currents.
