Universal AC Input 14V/2.4A Flyback With 88% Efficiency Reference Design
PMP9144: This reference design provides an isolated 14.5V/35W output from a universal 85-265VAC input. It uses the UCC28740 flyback controller to provide high efficiency and minimize light load losses. Maximum load efficiency is over 88%. The average efficiency (measured at 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% load) is 87.9%. The UCC28740 also provides accurate current limiting which eliminates the need for a load protecting switch on the output.

PMP10351: This reference design uses the UCC28713 primary-side regulated (PSR) flyback controller to generate a 12V/1.5A output from a univeral AC input. The valley switching of the UCC28713 allows this low-cost design to achieve an average efficiency over 87%; no load losses are less than 50mW. The PSR function eliminates the need for an optocoupler and TL431, greatly simplifying the circuit and reducing cost.

PMP9576: This reference design provides an isolated 12V/3.3A output from a universal 85V-265V AC input. This design achieves efficiencies greater than 84%. Employing the UCC28710D Primary Side Regulation (PSR) Flyback controller eliminates the opto-coupler and secondary side regulation components. The energy saving features of the UCC28710D allow this design to consume less than 75mW when plugged into the wall with no device attached to the output.

PMP11124: The PMP11124 reference design uses the UCC28700 and TPS25810 to provide an isolated 5V at 3A over a USB type C interface. The elimination of optocoupler using PSR topology promises higher reliability and lower system cost. The design achieves less than 40mW standby power losses and over 89% average efficiency. The design also features UCC2463x synchronous rectification controller.
