Contactless AC-Current Sensing Using a Hall Effect Sensor
TIDA-00218: This TI Design uses Texas Instruments' Hall sensing technology to provide a solution for knowing how much AC current is flowing through a wire without any physical intervention. TIDA-00218 implements a flux concentrator to concentrate the flux around the AC current-carrying wire, rather than letting it escape in air, and then directing that flux to a hall sensor.
Forward converter with Universal input driving 2x6 LEDs
PMP7762: PMP7762 is an offline LED driver with TRIAC dimming. It has short circuit protection as well as op amp control for dimming. It uses 2 op amp control for each LED string to ensure that current in the LED strings match. LM3445 includes a bleeder circuit to ensure proper triac operation by allowing current flow while the line voltage is low to enable proper firing of the triac.
Dual Sensor Measurement Using Single Current-Loop with FSK Modulation Reference Design
TIDA-00483: The TIDA-00483 reference design brings together several devices to create a subsystem capable of measuring the surrounding environment and communicating the temperature, humidity, and ambient light over a 4- to 20-mA current loop. The small foot print of the design contains all sensors, filters, and control circuitry to calculate and communicate the sensor data. The reference design is intended for process measurement applications in factory automation, field transmitters, and building automation. The sensors, MCU, and communication modules all run off power from the current loop, which requires less than 3.5 mA to achieve. This power configuration allows the rest of the current to be dynamically adjustable for the 4- to 20-mA loop communication protocol standard.
High Efficiency Isolated CAN & Profibus Interface Reference Design
TIDA-00012: The High Efficiency Isolated CAN & Profibus Interface Solution TI Design is intended for use in industrial systems that require isolated power for CAN and/or Profibus transceivers. This TI Design highlights the ability to completely shut off both the power converter and data transceivers with just one GPIO signal from a microcontroller (when dropping into low power modes, for example). This isolated interface solution delivers accurately regulated rails for both primary and secondary power to TI’s Profibus and CAN transceivers without costly opto-coupler feedback circuits – making this the simplest, most efficient and flexible isolated interface solution for industrial automation on the market today. Other solutions using transformer drivers are not efficient and do not have the ability to be easily turned off and require additional components to regulated the secondary rail. Lastly, this TI Design has the additional feature of allowing the MCU to wait until power is good before transmitting data or to stop transmitting data if a power fault has occured on the interface. The Tiva C Series Launch Pad form factor of this TI Design allows easy connection to the LaunchPad board for use of the Tiva C microcontroller in handling the communications protocol to the interface. The combination of the two boards provides a complete, low cost CAN and Profibus communication solution.
