TIDA-00474: Capacitive sensing based touch button implementation is commonly used, for the user interfaces in home appliances. Solutions based on low measurement resolution, suffer from achieving reliable operation and faster user response. The TI design TIDA-00474 hardware platform demonstrates the mitigation of these challenges using EMI-resistant, high-resolution (up to 28 bits), high-speed capacitance-to-digital converters. The board is designed and tested in cooker hood environment. Implementation details and test results are provided for capacitive button sensing and long range proximity sensing (up to 30cm).

TIDA-00466: The FDC2214 proximity and capacitive sensing design demonstrates the use of TI's capacitive sensing technology to sense and detect the presence of various objects. The design is a complete hardware and firmware solution. The firmware processes the data from one proximity sensor and two capacitive touch buttons via the FDC2214 to determine whether an object is in the intended sensing area. Dedicated colored LEDs light up once the device detects a target in close proximity to the board or detects a press on the buttons. The design is powered by one AA-battery.

TIDA-00464: Human Machine Interface (HMI) is an essential part of process plants since it is one of the major ways through which humans and machines interact. The TIDA-00464 reference design offers an HMI solution for harsh and hazardous area applications. In process plants, operators need to interact with an explosion-proof display/controller which is encapsulated in a screw-on metallic enclosure with a thick glass window for local read out and programming functions. Thanks to the TIDA-00464 TI Design, which uses the capacitive sensing technology integrated in the FDC2214, the operator will be able to interact with the controller without the need of opening the enclosure saving time by avoiding work permit or plant shutdown.
