Wide Bandwidth Optical Front-end Reference Design
TIDA-00725: This reference design implements and measures a complete 120MHz wide bandwidth optical front end comprising a high speed transimpedance amplifier, fully differential amplifier, and high speed 14-bit 160MSPS ADC with JESD204B interface. Hardware and software are provided to evaluate the performance of the system in response to high speed optical pulses generated from the included laser driver and diode for applications including optical time domain reflectrometry (OTDR).
Optimizing LMH6554 to Drive High Speed ADCs
TIDA-00092: This reference design shows the ability of the high-speed amplifier, LMH6554, to perform single-ended to differential conversion to drive high-speed analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) while maintaining excellent noise and distortion performance. Performance versus input frequency is shown for both AC and DC coupled applications while interfaced to the ADS4449 quad, 250-MSPS, 14-bit ADC. Various options for common-mode voltages, power supplies, and interfaces are discussed and measured to meet the requirements of a variety of applications. Anti-aliasing filter examples are shown along with the performance improvements that they provide.
1-GHz Bandwidth Dual Channel Transmitter up to 4-GHz Reference Design
TIDA-00409: The TSW38J84 EVM reference design provides a platform to demonstrate a wideband dual transmit solution that incorporates an integrated LO. The reference design utilizes the 2.5 GSPS DAC38J84 device with the high performance modulators: TRF3722 (including integrated PLL/VCO) and TRF3705. The TRF3722 and TRF3705 can be combined to form a dual transmit solution with the TRF3722 generating the local oscillator (LO) for both modulators. The interface between the DAC38J84 and the modulators is discussed as well as measurements showing the combined performance of the DAC and modulators. The measurements illustrate the bandwidth performance, output third order intercept performance, harmonic distortion and sideband suppression performance.
Two-Wire Interface to a HIPERFACE DSL Encoder Reference Design
TIDA-00177: The TIDA-00177 reference design is an EMC compliant industrial interface to a two-wire HIPERFACE DSL encoder. Applications include industrial servo drives. The design features a 3.3-V supply RS485 transceiver and line termination and coupling for encoder power over RS485 as per HIPERFACE DSL specification. The design has been tested up to 100m cable length with an integrated cable, where the encoder’s two-wire twisted pair was integrated in the same motor cable. The encoder connector output is protected against over-voltage and short circuit to prevent damage to an encoder or during a cable short. The design features an industrial compliant 24-V input with wide range from 18-36V. A 3.3V I/O connector with logic signals for easy interface to a host processor with HIPERFACE DSL Master IP Core is made available.
