Serial Interface Dual 8-Channel Relay, LED, Stepper Driver
TIDA-00117: This reference design includes dual DRV8860 and an MSP430 value line MCU to provide 16-channel low side driver for Relays, LEDs, and Unipolar steppers. The solution suports voltage range from 8V to 38V, 200mA current for each channel, parallel outputs, protection of short condition and open load detection. Serial interface and daisy chain connection of DRV8860 give the most benefits on minimum input IOs and extending the output channels easily. An innovative energizing time and internal automatic PWM duty control provide obvious energy saving function especially for relay and solenoid driving. The PWM duty control also can be used for LED brightness control. Full and half step unipolar stepper motor control logic is also included in this design. The drive stage has integrated protection from short-circuit, under voltage, and over-temperature.
5V, 3-Phase, Sensorless, Sinusoidal Motor System With Variable Speed Control
TIDA-00114: This BLDC motor system implements a DRV10963, a TLC555 timer, and a generic 5V motor. The sinusoidal control scheme is suitable for small fan applications where low noise is desired. Motor voltage support is 2.1V to 5.5V, and max current is 500mA. Motor speed is controlled by the PWM input. Low quiescent current standby mode is available. The motor drive stage has integrated protection, including short-circuit, shoot-through, under-voltage, over-temperature, and locked rotor detection.
Low Voltage Brushed Motor System
TIDA-00115: This brushed motor system implements an MSP430 microcontroller, a DRV8837 brushed DC motor driver, and a 12V brushed motor. It is suitable for applications requiring up to 10300 RPM under no load condition. The system is 19 x 33 mm, excluding the motor, making it ideal for applications that require a small footprint. Motor power supply voltage support is 1.8V to 11V, and max current is 1.8A. Several configuration options allow for easy control over the speed of the motor's rotation, changing the direction of rotation, and sending the system into a low power state when not in operation to reduce power consumption. The motor drive stage has integrated protection from short-circuit, shoot-through, under-voltage, and over-temperature.
5V, 3-Phase, Sensorless Motor System With Variable Speed Control
TIDA-00112: This reference design provides a simple way to spin and control a 5V, 3-phase, BLDC fan motor with minimum development time and overhead. It utilizes the DRV10866, a sensorless BLDC motor driver, for the power stage and a TLC555 timer to provide a variable duty cycle PWM signal for speed control. The DRV10866 uses a 150 degree sensorless BEMF control scheme that takes away the need for external sensors on the motor.
