Ultrasonic Distance Measurement BoosterPack Reference Design
TIDA-00462: The TIDA-00462 ultrasonic distance measurement reference design can measure the distance up to 99 inches with an accuracy of ±1.5 inches. The scope of this design guide is to give system designers a head-start in integrating TI’s industrial ultra-low-power MCU, analog signal conditioning, and power management technologies into their end-equipment systems. This design guide describes the principle of operation and basic design process for a low cost distance measuring system based on ultrasonic sound utilizing the MSP430 ultralow-power microcontroller. This design guide also addresses component selection, design theory, and test results of the TI Design system. All the relevant design files like Schematics, BOM, Layer plots, Altium files, Gerber and MSP430 MCU firmware are provided.
Polymer TFT Display Supply
PMP2617: A multi-Buck solution, followed by a 5V USB supply and +/-25V…+/-35V generator (with a 0.5% precision on tracking) provides all voltages to a Polymer TFT display. Very low height is the main challenge.
Sepic with Adjustable Output Voltage and Input Current Limit Reference Design
PMP10151: This reference design provides an adjustable output voltage between 20V and 25V and an input voltage range of 10V to 14V. It also provides the functionality to limit the input current of the converter between 70mA and 135mA. The adjustable values are set by a VID interface which is either discrete or integrated.
Thermocouple AFE Using RTD or Integrated Temperature Sensor for Cold Junction Compensation (CJC)
TIDA-00168: The sole objective of this reference design is to provide comprehensive details on how to design a simple, robust, and accurate analog front end (AFE) circuit for making precision temperature measurements with thermocouple sensors. TIDA-00168 explains the theory, operation, and complications involved in a step-by-step manner. Additionally, this reference design emphasizes topics like error analysis, the necessity of an anti-aliasing filter, biasing resistors for sensor diagnostics, CJC, linearization technique for sensor data, and the design challenges of printed circuit boards.
Small Form-Factor Reinforced Isolated IGBT Gate Drive Reference Design for 3 Phase Inverter
TIDA-00446: The TIDA-00446 reference design consists of six reinforced isolated IGBT gate drivers along with dedicated gate drive power supplies. This compact reference design is intended to control IGBT’s in 3-phase inverters like AC drives, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) and solar inverters. The design uses a reinforced isolated IGBT gate driver with DESAT feature and built-in miller clamp protection, enabling use of unipolar supply voltage for the gate drive. Open loop push pull topology based power supply for each gate driver provides flexibility in PCB routing. The push pull transformer driver used in TIDA-00446 operates at 420 khz which helps in reducing the size of the isolation transformer leading to compact power supply solution. Gate drive power supply can be disabled to facilitate safe torque off (STO).
Adaptive Power Supply for PLC Analog Output Module with Output Channel Protection
TIDA-00231: TIDA-00231 is a reference design for an industrial Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) analog output module. The design provides a unique power saving solution for a digital-to-analog converter (DAC)-based analog current output module with an adaptive power supply. This adaptive power supply dynamically regulates the AVDD supply of the DAC and limits power losses to < 50mW for typical load resistance of > 300Ω. The analog output can source current up to 24mA. This reference design includes the necessary on-board protection circuit and has been tested to IEC61000-4 standard EFT, ESD, and surge requirements with IO Controller platforms. The protection circuitry does not negatively affect the design and Test results showed typical unadjusted errors were less than 0.2% FSR and calibrated accuracy is 0.05%. 6V-42V Input 12V/5A SEPIC for Automotive Applications
PMP7797: PMP7797 is a wide-input SEPIC converter designed for automotive applications. This design uses the LM25037Q push-pull controller as an interleaved boost, which incorporates two gate drivers for controlling two sets of MOSFET switches. The input is 12V nominal with a working range of 6V at cold crank to 42V at load dump. An auxiliary soft-start circuit is incorporated into the design, as well as input and output LC filters. At higher input voltage this SEPIC is capable of higher output current as shown by the typical efficiency plot.
